Grant Town Cattle/Longhorns

We are Joel and Sheri Grant from GrantTown Cattle/Longhorns in Silver Creek Georgia. We are relatively new to the Texas Longhorn breed. Our operations as an Angus Cattle farm has allowed us to venture into the breed of Texas Longhorns. Sheri and I likewise have special interests in harvesting Blueberries and Muscadine while breeding beef cattle and longhorns. We also share a passion for equestrian as we are involved with horse rescue and rehabilitation.

Past Spotlights

NS Horns

We began our longhorn venture in 2017 when our mentor, Jimmy Jones, loaned us one Longhorn to just look at and like most others it grew from there! We are not a volume breeder but a small, select program striving to produce consistent genetics that are big bodied, conformationally correct and have the lateral, rolling horn we love. In order to move our program forward we have been using AI and IVF in addition to natural breeding. Outside of just the cows, we love traveling to futurities, sales and visiting with other breeders. We welcome you drop by to talk longhorns, look at cows, learn from each other and make friends. Our farm is located in the heart of Alabama about 10 minutes off I-65 near Montgomery. If you’re ever traveling this way give us a call and come by-we would love to see you!

Luke and Melissa Barnes of WoodStack Farm

We are Luke and Melissa Barnes from WoodStack Farm in Crystal River, Florida. We have three daughters; Emilie (13) and twins Rebel &Taylor (6).

After a 20 year adventure in the Army & having kids, we were ready for our next adventure as a family. We chose Texas Longhorns for their rich history, physical toughness, and remarkable beauty. Still fairly new, we focus on getting out there and being a part of it all, learning from the more experienced and sharing with other newcomers as they come along. This truly is a wonderful group and we are blessed to be a part of it all.

Jimmy Jones of Horseshoe J Ranch

Most everyone who owns Longhorn Cattle, knows of Mr. Jimmy Jones and the Cattle of Horseshoe j Ranch. A person could write pages about his success’s, awards and accolades, but I will, not as I would like to be welcome on his ranch again. One trip to Horseshoe j, and you will see his real passion is sharing his knowledge and love for the Texas Longhorn breed. So, if you are lucky enough to be in South Alabama on his ranch, listen and enjoy all the stories you will surely hear.
