Upcoming

SETLA Educational Clinic

The Southeastern Texas Longhorn Association will host an in-depth Longhorn educational clinic.
The clinic will be conducted in Longhorn futurity format.

This event will have 5 classes, up to 4 live animals per class for evaluations,
4 heifer classes and 1 bull class.
A panel of 2 experienced breeders and futurity judges will conduct the evaluation.

This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from longtime breeders who have both bred, shown and served as judges as they walk through their evaluation process.

Judges:

This hands-on clinic is designed to help breeders, exhibitors, and enthusiasts better understand:

· Structural correctness
· Breed characteristics
· Horn direction and measurement considerations
· Futurity evaluation criteria & scoring
· Interactive discussions between judges and attendees with Q&A

Welcome to the

Southeastern Texas Longhorn Association

SETLA is an affiliate of the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association of America and was founded in 1983 by a small group of breeders east of the Mississippi who found a common love for the Longhorn breed. Today, the Association has 40 members in three states. Our members include hobby breeders, as well as serious breeders who have made raising Longhorns their business. We invite you to become part of our organization and experience the excitement of this magnificent breed.

We also schedule field days and ranch tours each year which provide the opportunity to see how fellow breeders operate their programs and to provide education and support for the Longhorn breeder. It is a great opportunity to enjoy fellowship with old friends and make new friends in the Longhorn industry!

SETLA Mission Statement

The purpose of the Southeastern Texas Longhorn association is to produce public awareness of the Texas Longhorn breed in the South East, as well as, support and promote owners of Texas Longhorn cattle. To recognize the unique heritage and the importance that Texas Longhorn cattle played in American history. SETLA will serve for the benefit of the breed and its members and will work concurrently with the TLBAA as a parent organization.
